…last one I did in Frankfurt
When I was in Germany last week I had the pleasure of spending some time with my dear friends Nancy and Marco. Also meeting their friend Robin de Goede, who took these really great photos. *the hands in the one photo, are Nancy’s and I got to do a very special tattoo on one of them “Bratt Pack” in honor of her special relationship between Marco Bratt and herself. Im honored to have done this tattoo and to call both of them friends.
Facebook, in my book is fading away a bit , for me anyway, but I suspect it will stick around for a while regardless if I’m using it or not. (too many bored housewives that wont be giving it up anytime soon)
Instagram, the current growing social media giant, which in my opinion is leading the wave of the future, quick, easy and fun, and if you want you can connect back though Facebook and Twitter through it. now available on android (even though I don’t have one friend that has a android) …I will be doing my “Top Ten” on instagram next. stay tuned.
Twitter, last but not least. now when I first signed up for it a while back, I didn’t use it for almost a year, but all of a sudden I realized that it was a great platform for just some fun nonsense, funny jokes, positive quotes, direct attack of your least favorite celebrity, and stuff of this nature. Its basically a diary of sorts or diarrhea of sorts depending on how serious you take it. for me maybe the latter. as I don’t take it too serious nor do I like people who do. Its Shitfo as I like to call it, and its fun. I like to tweet about; PMA,Fashion, Woman, Tattooing, Morality, Honor, the Street, Hard work, Comical observations..ie. I really have fun with it.
Here is the top ten people that I like to follow;
1. @goodguybri my brother and he rules.
2. @saltwatertattoo one of the best tattooers in the world. witty tweets and great pictures of new tattoos.
3. @makanaalia amazing humor
4. @tobyh2o non stop positivity
6. @evan_dennis great tweets on honor and human observation, among other things
7. @leemrodriguez comments without a filter, witty tweets
8. @tnutp4l solid tweets about the street and the struggle. positive and motivational
9. @lukewessmanfans I dont know who runs this, but they do a awesome job tweeting as fans and representatives. I still cant believe I have one of these.
10. @ftwskills because thats my family, whether he actually tweets or not “Pennypacker GPF”

Every once and a while a intelligent client finds his way to the shop and asks for the kind of tattoos I like doing, and in my opinion the way they should be done, bold and set to last the test of time. Tattooing in itself is its very own art medium, and classic bold tattooing is the foundation of this tattoo medium. Just as oil and acrylic painting have their boundaries, so does the art of tattooing. Over the years young ambitious art kids have came into tattooing with out proper apprenticeships, not having a real apprenticeship, they never learn from the “trial and error” that a master tattooer has been through and would have taught them, they get extra fancy, impressing the uneducated and the young with out knowledge of the tricky tattoos fate. My point is in 10 years put a real tattoo like this one next to a fancy no out line lily and see who has more happiness and pride with their tattoo. Bold will hold and fancy will fail. #proven
Here is a throwback picture of me tattooing my friend from LA, 2MEX. Alex aka 2MEX is a LA underground hip hop legend. With over 20 years in the hip hop game, 2MEX is a force to be reckoned with. Some of his most known affiliates include; The Visionaries, Of Mexican Decent, Sungodsun, Afterlife, The Shapeshifters, and the Look Daggers to name a few. 2MEX and my dear friend Courtney aka Existstereo payed me a visit that day while on tour, and that was a nice surprise. I truly am blessed with some great friends. Much respect Alex.
I don’t spend much time looking at blogs on the internet, and its not necessarily that I wouldn’t like to, its pretty much just because I don’t have time to. Now if you know me at all, you know I have a thing for beautiful women, fashion, clothing, and more importantly style, all of which I can be found on a blog I do check from time to time called The Sartorialist.
I think that there is so many dimensions of art, and I think the way a person picks out their wardrobe can be a cool extension of personal artistic sensibility or lack there of. Now please don’t get me wrong, I don’t consider myself a clothing expert in anyway, or a exceptional dresser, I just have a side of me that sees a form of art in it.
Quick back story. When I was a kid my mom made my clothes or got them from thrift stores, or I got hand-me-downs from my older brother. So now me being older, a working adult, I don’t find it that hard to match my shoes to my shirts from time to time. You see because when I was a kid I didn’t have the choice. So you mother fucking rich kid tattooers that didn’t ever have to worry about looking silly in your older brothers jeans, that were 4 inches too short for you because you were way taller then him, can stop asking “why does Luke try to dress all spiffy and shit” …that and Dave Gibson use to tell me “if you want to do expensive tattoos, you gotta look like your worth it”
I’ve been wearing them since I was a kid, not because they were cool, not because the cool punk rock kids wore them, not even really because the OG’s in the hood wear them, but it was because it was one of the shoe brands I could afford as a kid. I never got those black Nike Flights with the gold letters on the tongue I wanted (I had a picture ripped out of a magazine of them, in my wallet for a bit, I think they were around 90$, ha, yeah right, not then) Instead what happened was I got a love for Chuck Taylor’s with fat laces and I don’t plan on ever not wearing them. Although I do switch it up from time to time, theses days, Converse will always be my shoe.
I still get mine at 25$ at my indoor swap meet back home. At the same spot I get my favorite street tacos, fresh pina and watermelon juice, and packs of white tees.
The link is to the newer one of the two indoor swap meets I used to go to as a kid. They are a couple blocks away from each other. #showyourmath
