I started writing a blog for Inked Mag’s online site called “The Gentlemen’s Voice” check monthly for new post.
Universal Pictures just released the NWA Straight Outta Compton trailer. I grew up in Southern California in the era of NWA – gangs and gangster rap were in my back yard. I can not wait to see this movie, incredible soundtrack guaranteed.
After being away from my home, southern California for a long time it feels great to be home working around my family and old friends at my new venture The Summertown Inn, Thank you Oc Weekly for being the first to give the public a sneak peak.
I had the pleasure of traveling with my good friends H2O to Sao Paulo Brasil this past weekend. Spent some time at my friend Mauro Landim’s shop, hung with one of my favorite people/tattooers Maneko, and watched my dear friends rock a sell out show full of old and new fans. Perfect trip (except American Airlines, don’t fly them)
Talib Kweli in my second round Self Made Dues Paid hat I made with my friend Travis Barker / Famous. I’ve met Talib a few times over the years, one time I was accidentally on stage with him I’m Hollywood while I was watching my man Mitchy Slick preform, when Mitchy was on Blacksmith, the other time a mutual friend introduced us in NY. Talib is on my top 10 if not my top 5…so you can guess I was pretty stoked to see him in one of my hats in a city I have deep roots with. Chi town. Thanks to Kater Jayne for this great pic from the show at the Shrine last night. Respect
I had the pleasure of lining up a few of my favorite artist for Inked Magazine to paint some of my all time favorite shoes with me, the Chuck Taylor.
With “Luke Wessman’s NYC’ I wanted to say a little something about my time here in NY, although I’ll be back and forth a bit, Im still officially leaving. I have a lot of respect for this city and the new friends I’ve made here, and wanted to speak on it. Thank you Jake from Think First Media Vimeo Page
I’ve spent the last four years of my life in New York City. It has been some of the greatest years or my life to date, full of exciting adventurers, great new friendships, stories I can’t tell, monthly house guest, and a great respect for new york and its people. So moving on to my next adventure I thought I’d put together a little goodbye video for the few people that pay attention to my life and world. Paying my respects, if you will. So I asked my dear friend Jake if he would hold my iPhone for me while I say a quick goodbye, but Jake being the amazing visionary he is, he was like ” fuck that lets do something cooler” So we spent a little more time on it, and filmed some stuff over the last year in our very spare spare time. Jake has found time in his busy life to shoot and edit this project. This is a picture of him putting time on the edit. I can’t wait to see what he puts together, and I’ll be excited to show you guys. Thank you Jake / Think First Media I have a lot of respect for your work and more importantly you as a person. Thank you.
Also, I think see you later New York is more appropriate. I plan on plenty of back and forth visits.
