I grew up working as a young kid, My brother and I would collect cans on at the beach in my hometown of Oceanside. At that young age I learned that hard Work Pays, do the work get the money seemed like a no brainer. I learned the respect for societies labor force, the men and women who work so hard to better their lives and the lives of their families, meanwhile adding to the country by all types of professions. As a kid I knew I personally had to work hard to survive and as I got older I realized that I didn’t want to just survive I wanted to thrive. I learned the value of smart work mixed with hard work, and thats where I am now, working as hard and smart as I can, luckily I really like what I do. I come form little and may never fully enjoy my success, but my family will. Happy Labor Day ! to all the people that work and keep this great country functioning and growing. “Work like a slave eat like a king” (more…)
Every year I hear from friends how great our friend Oliver Peck’s “Friday 13th” tattoo party is. Every year I secretly hope to be invited to such a event, well this is the year, Oliver called me to be a part and I’m so excited ! Staring at 12am friday September 13th I will be joining tons of friends and peers down in Dallas to do 24 hours of straight tattooing. I’ll be tattooing as many “friday the 13th” themed tattoos in the period of 24 hours. Up until now I think about 14 or so is the most I have ever done in a day. I hopping the get close to a hundred, but having never done this event I’m not sure how it’s gonna go down. See you there. 13$ tattoo 7$ tip for good luck ! Check this video out – 13th Tattoo-a-thon
Jay Z Picasso Baby has officially brought Hip Hop to a new place in society. This is truly history in the making. I’m happy to see that progressive people exist at the MOMA and at HBO, thank you for making this possible. My respect for Jay Z grows all the time. I have great respect for people who come from little and do much. Self Made. This video has been released on You Tube.
Found it ! So my brother Brian and our nephew Jake were in town the last few days, it was Jakes first time in NY and we were doing as much tourist things as possible. Also on the agenda was find the new September issue of ”Freshly Inked Magazine” with my mug on the cover. We found it at the 3rd place we looked, a Barnes & Noble, they had a stack of five, so we decided to leave one. I don’t know if you ever had your face on the cover of a magazine at a book store or a newsstand, but let me tell you its a pretty great feeling. I’m very thankful and happy to see some fruits of my labor, I’m blessed. Thanks again to Freshly Inked mag for letting me wear a suit, thanks to all my friends who always support me and wish me well, I’m nothing without you guys. It makes me proud to make my friends proud. We are all self made.
My first real job was Beekeeping. So I was looking at the website of the amazing photographer David Yellen, the photographer who shot my Freshly Inked cover that just came out, and came across this beautiful photo that brought back so many memories. A special Thanks to David for really going above and beyond to make sure the Freshly Inked cover picture was legit. “No bees no honey, no work no money”
I was pleasantly surprised yesterday with a sneak peak of the September issue of Freshly Inked Magazine, set the hit stands next week. I am very pleased with the picture, and honored to be on the cover.
I always joke that the fashion world has shown more love then my own industry, and then this cover happened out of the blue. But I’ve always said “I don’t represent tattooing, and tattooers…I represent myself, my friends, my family, and hard work” Life is more about personal relationship, then a culture or a career. Be good to people and good things happen.
The end of a era and the beginning of a new empire. On this day Tim and Brian came with me to clear out all my things from Luckys Tattoo Parlor in San Diego, where I learned how to tattoo (the original Dave Gibson’s Lucky’s tattoo parlor) and held a partnership with a very old friend for around 10 years.

A great picture of the Wedge in Newport Beach that my friend Jason took during this big swell a week ago. If you don’t know about the Wedge, let me tell you it can be one of the most dangerous waves in the world at times.
