Are the blind leading the blind in tattooing these days? This is a question that has been a major topic of discussion between my peers lately. With tattooing becoming as popular as it is these days every person that knows how to doodle wants to become a tattooer. I can only complain about it so much before I start feeling sad and a bit responsible as a result of partaking in crappy reality TV. When I first watched a tattoo being made it felt like I was in something out of a J.R.R. Tolkien book, it felt totally magical and mysterious, and in some ways it really was. Myke Chambers described it best when he said “This local tattooer was like a wizard to me”. Tattooers would perform the most amazing magic act, and they’d be damned if they would teach you how their trick was done. Now days you can go to a ‘school’ for tattooing and pay money in trade for second-rate so-called knowledge on how to tattoo. It’s a terrible shame, those who know little or nothing about our trade trying to teach the undeserved how to tattoo… for money. (more…)

Just a normal night in the LES, New York City. Invisible GP Crew.
It has been quite a few years since I have done the Ink & Iron tattoo convention. The last time I did, it was with my dear friend Nervio, and we had such a good time. So this year I will be flying in from New York to do Ink & Iron and working with one of my favorite people/tattooers in the world my friend Tim Hendricks. We will be next to our friends from Goldrush Tattoo in Costa Mesa and other great friends including Dan Smith and Dave Kruseman. Tim will be selling all his great swag; custom tattoo machines, sketchbooks, tattoo pens and his new T shirt line, which is a must have in any wardrobe
I will be selling some new very limited prints, the classic “California Love Lucky’s Tee” and sketchbooks. I am 99% booked up but please stop by and say hello. We will see you there. June 8,9,and 10
Picture above: Hand painted name signs, Tim did for our booth at the show. He’s truly the best.
I was so shocked to hear that Junior Seau has been killed. As a young kid growing up in Oceanside California we didn’t have too many heroes, and a lot of us looked up to the gangsters and top drug dealers in the area, they had the respect of the street, they had all the nice stuff, the cleanest Impalas the newest Escalades. But amongst all that nonsense was a great admiration for Junior Seau, that everyone felt, he was the hometown hero, one of the most known and respected guys that made it from our time period and our city. I recently had the honor and pleasure to spend a holiday at his home in Oceanside with him and some of his family, where I was so welcomed and forced to eat so much good food, Junior kept saying “Luke ! eat ” I will cherish that memory and the memory of his life.
One of my best/oldest friends Rob Ruiz is a world class chef out of Oceanside, and would cook for him and his family from time to time, and thats how the connection was made.
I am not a sports fan, but Im a big fan of good people. Junior was a good person and will be missed greatly here on earth, as the earth needs more people like him. Rest in Power big homie, Thanks for all the good. Respect #55
From time to time Tim leaves paradise aka California and comes back over to New York to do some tattooing with us, its that time again. From today the 1st through the 7th Tim will be taking walk ins, no appointment but he says if you come in he will do his best to get you tattooed. Nows your chance to get a tattoo from him. For all other inquires email email@example.com
So for the time being my good friend Tommy Montoya comes back and forth from California to NY every month. I look forward to the time he is here at Wooster Street Social Club every month, as the shops energy goes through the roof and the shop feels more like a tattoo shop and less like the set of a reality tv show. Tommy usually brings his brother Mikey Montoya with him, its those times that get me though the mundane flow of over excited and under educated tattoo/reality fans daily assault on our shop. Love when your here Montoyas. Cali love. GPF CS
When I was in Germany last week I had the pleasure of spending some time with my dear friends Nancy and Marco. Also meeting their friend Robin de Goede, who took these really great photos. *the hands in the one photo, are Nancy’s and I got to do a very special tattoo on one of them “Bratt Pack” in honor of her special relationship between Marco Bratt and herself. Im honored to have done this tattoo and to call both of them friends.
Here is a throwback picture of me tattooing my friend from LA, 2MEX. Alex aka 2MEX is a LA underground hip hop legend. With over 20 years in the hip hop game, 2MEX is a force to be reckoned with. Some of his most known affiliates include; The Visionaries, Of Mexican Decent, Sungodsun, Afterlife, The Shapeshifters, and the Look Daggers to name a few. 2MEX and my dear friend Courtney aka Existstereo payed me a visit that day while on tour, and that was a nice surprise. I truly am blessed with some great friends. Much respect Alex.
