A throwback photo of Norton, Brian, and D (Grand opening of new shop location circa 2009) That was a good time. but the best is yet to come.

It was also my close friend Morgwn Pennypackers birthday that day and about 28 or so friends got a little cartoon head of him tattooed. It was a great night my friend Diablo Dimes played, the Diamond Dog Crew was all there, and old cars lined the outside of the building. The night was full of fun, laughter, and well wishing friends from all over. Thank to everyone who was there. Here some more photos of that great night.

Rose tattoo reference “Always in bloom”

January 4th, 2012 | Posted by admin in Photos | Reference - (Comments Off)

You can “Google” roses or buy flower books to get more reference,  but nothing beats the observant eye.  Look at this beauty on the side of the sidewalk in my old neighborhood in San Diego, California. Nothing beats the real thing. (no photo filter) amazing.

Ghetto Protected Crew member “Kiku”

December 25th, 2011 | Posted by admin in Friends | Photos | Tattoo - (Comments Off)

GP is Family, a Crew, a Fellowship, and an understanding.

Made up mostly of quiet giants people you may have never heard of people who are constantly pushing independently, artistically and financially …Mostly fellas who have come from very humble beginnings and should never have made it as far as we have, dudes who have made it through the ghettos in which we were raised without being jailed or killed. And have made it beyond the traditional ghetto mentality … And instead of fighting over our blocks were fighting to buy our blocks…becoming owners not renters . Leaders not followers. Through any means… violently, politically, or poetically. Not just survive bit thrive.  And when we roll though hoods we are protected because real recognizes real. Ghetto Protected.  Were out to snatch fame from the lames…and chedder from the haters.  And give game to our youngsters… So they can stop looking up to wanksters.
=G/P FAMILY= Welcomes Kiku

Happy Festivus for the rest of us.

December 24th, 2011 | Posted by admin in Events | Photos - (Comments Off)

Although “Festivus” is somewhat officially celebrated on the 23rd I always think of it on christmas eve or christmas day.  I always get a little weird on holidays due to the fact Im usually traveling abroad or living away from my family and some of my favorite people to be around, so “festivus” is a fun way for me to be a bit cynical abut the christmas holiday. Im a big Seinfeld fan and thats where I first heard of this silly holiday.

California’s own – Amanda Lopez Photography

December 20th, 2011 | Posted by admin in Friends | Photos - (Comments Off)

Amanda Lopez is one of my favorite photographers from California.  She is best known from shooting Latina homegirls, street musicians, and family members. Her work has been published in Vibe, XXL, The Reed Pages, Essance, and many other magazines and books.

Growing up in southern california myself around a prevalent Latino culture, Amanda’s photographs strike close to home and to the heart.  My first love was a Latina and her family helped raised me for a length of time,  I’ve consider myself fortunate to have been raised around the Mexican people and deep in their culture. I’ve learned alot about pride, hard work, honor, respect, and tradition from the Latinos I grew up around.

I found this old photo of Dave Gibson and I (back then we didn’t take many photos, no Iphones), Im not sure exactly but I think this was about 1998 at the original Lucky’s Tattoo Parlor on 7th street downtown San Diego California, where I started my tattoo career.  I owe a lot to this man, more then I can express. Those early years I learned so much priceless information about all aspects of tattooing. It was the foundation of my livelihood.

Thank you Mr Dave Gibson I will always hold you in the highest regard and speak of you with the utmost respect, regardless of the nonsense that we have been through.

Your Tattoo and Fraternal brother,

Luke Wessman

MY 66 Chevy Impala – California Love

December 9th, 2011 | Posted by admin in Photos | Trips - (Comments Off)

My 66 Chevy Impala...I somewhat reluctantly bought her from one of my best friends Morgwn Pennypacker in Miami about 7 years ago…Since then this car and I have been through a lot together; cross country trips,  a hurricane (Katrina),  back yard repairs, countless breakdowns and a major break up. Over the years after tuns of break downs, I’ve  thought about selling her multiple times…but after all we been through I can’t see parting ways anymore … so I’ve  been doing a lot more to her lately thanks to a few good friends like Chuy (Back Yard Boogie) Bobby from The Worldwide Tribal Click and the homie Manuel Cisneros. Check out this photo gallery below of her.
