“Love Lost” a Watercolor Painting of Heartbreak and Intrigue

When I started tattooing, Dave Gibson, Morgwn Pennypacker, and Milford Barnes all helped teach me a thing or two about painting with watercolors.  To me its like exercising, you want bigger muscles work out more, you want to be a more efficient tattooer, draw and paint more.  The medium I paint with is similar to the way tattoo ink works in the skin, not as many variables as skin of course, but similar.  Just as painting random images without deep purpose or meaning is great and I do that often, sometimes I get all emo and paint.  This painting here is one of those times, it represents the feeling I have about my last break up, I loved the girl completely, and it broke my heart to break hers.  Also the yellow rose represents; a promise of a new beginning, jealousy, and “I care”.  I’m a big fan of symbolism and incorporate it into my paintings perhaps much more often then noticed.
