Luke Wessman & 2MEX Miami Beach Circa ’07
March 13th, 2012 | Posted by in Celebrities | Friends | Photos | Uncategorized - (Comments Off)Here is a throwback picture of me tattooing my friend from LA, 2MEX. Alex aka 2MEX is a LA underground hip hop legend. With over 20 years in the hip hop game, 2MEX is a force to be reckoned with. Some of his most known affiliates include; The Visionaries, Of Mexican Decent, Sungodsun, Afterlife, The Shapeshifters, and the Look Daggers to name a few. 2MEX and my dear friend Courtney aka Existstereo payed me a visit that day while on tour, and that was a nice surprise. I truly am blessed with some great friends. Much respect Alex.
I Love A Beautiful Woman With Great Style
March 7th, 2012 | Posted by in Photos | Reference - (Comments Off)I don’t spend much time looking at blogs on the internet, and its not necessarily that I wouldn’t like to, its pretty much just because I don’t have time to. Now if you know me at all, you know I have a thing for beautiful women, fashion, clothing, and more importantly style, all of which I can be found on a blog I do check from time to time called The Sartorialist.
I think that there is so many dimensions of art, and I think the way a person picks out their wardrobe can be a cool extension of personal artistic sensibility or lack there of. Now please don’t get me wrong, I don’t consider myself a clothing expert in anyway, or a exceptional dresser, I just have a side of me that sees a form of art in it.
Quick back story. When I was a kid my mom made my clothes or got them from thrift stores, or I got hand-me-downs from my older brother. So now me being older, a working adult, I don’t find it that hard to match my shoes to my shirts from time to time. You see because when I was a kid I didn’t have the choice. So you mother fucking rich kid tattooers that didn’t ever have to worry about looking silly in your older brothers jeans, that were 4 inches too short for you because you were way taller then him, can stop asking ”why does Luke try to dress all spiffy and shit” …that and Dave Gibson use to tell me “if you want to do expensive tattoos, you gotta look like your worth it”
I’ve been wearing them since I was a kid, not because they were cool, not because the cool punk rock kids wore them, not even really because the OG’s in the hood wear them, but it was because it was one of the shoe brands I could afford as a kid. I never got those black Nike Flights with the gold letters on the tongue I wanted (I had a picture ripped out of a magazine of them, in my wallet for a bit, I think they were around 90$, ha, yeah right, not then) Instead what happened was I got a love for Chuck Taylor’s with fat laces and I don’t plan on ever not wearing them. Although I do switch it up from time to time, theses days, Converse will always be my shoe.
T.G.O.D.
I still get mine at 25$ at my indoor swap meet back home. At the same spot I get my favorite street tacos, fresh pina and watermelon juice, and packs of white tees.
The link is to the newer one of the two indoor swap meets I used to go to as a kid. They are a couple blocks away from each other. #showyourmath
